DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – Sixth-ranked Adrian College (Mich.) scored three goals in the second period and held on to defeat the St. Scholastica women's hockey team 4-3 to complete the sweep of the Saints on Saturday at Mars Lakeview Arena.

How it Happened
The Bulldogs (7-1-0, 6-0-0 NCHA) struck first for the second straight day with an even-strength goal eight minutes into the game. The Saints knotted the score with less than six minutes remaining in the opening period when freshman Amber Tilander (International Falls, Minn./Falls HS) scored a nifty back-handed goal to make it 1-1 after one period. Kassidy Westrom (Isanti, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti HS) and Kennedy Houge (Woodbury, Minn./Hill-Murray HS) had the assists.

It remained 1-1 until Adrian re-gained the lead seven minutes into the second period. However, that lead was short-lived as Taylor Thompson (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) tied the game at 2-2 a little over a minute later. Rachel Anderson (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) and Alexia Klaas (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS (Minnesota-Duluth)) had the assists.

However, the Bulldogs would get a pair of goals four minutes apart in the final 10 minutes of the second period to take a 4-2 lead into the second intermission.

The Saints would out-shoot Adrian in the third period 9-6. CSS had one power-play opportunity in the period and took advantage to cut the margin to 4-3. Kayla Kasel (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake HS) would put home the puck on the power-play with assists from Anderson and Thompson with eight minutes remaining.

CSS only got two more shots on goal the rest of the way as Adrian held on for the 4-3 victory.
