ST. PAUL (csssaints.com)- Despite battling hard in the third set, the St. Scholastica (7-14, 5-6 UMAC) volleyball team fell on the road at the University of Northwestern, 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 26-24), Saturday in UMAC action.

How it Happened
The first set had a promising start for the Saints, as they tied Northwestern (16-5, 11-0 UMAC), 6-6, on kills from Schermann and Emily Uddermann. The Eagles took control after that, however, going on a 9-0 run while capitalizing on some CSS service errors. St. Scholastica hung tough for a stretch, but ultimately fell to Northwestern, 25-16.

The second set followed a similar trend as the first. After being tied at five, thanks to the play of Sofia Rajala (Deer River, Minn./Greenway HS) and Emily Bounds (Hill City, Minn./Hill City HS), the Eagles would put together a 10-3 run to pull away and go on to win the set, 25-13.

The Saints continued to battle in the third set. Down 19-16, CSS went on a 7-3 run to go ahead of Northwestern, 24-22. But, the Eagles used a four-point run to recover and win the set, 26-24.
