DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica volleyball team welcomes Bethany Lutheran College for an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Tournament First Round match on Monday.

What You Need To Know About The Saints:
-The Saints ended the regular season with three consecutive wins for their first three-match win streak of the season and first since the 2016 season.
-CSS was eliminated in last year's first round tournament match by Martin Luther College in five sets down in New Ulm.
-The Saints have made the UMAC Tournament every year of is existence, dating back to 1998.
-The Saints hosted a first round tournament match in 2015 and defeated Martin Luther in four sets.
-Junior outside hitter Brooke Schermann (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Totino-Grace HS) is the first Saint since 2015 to record over 300 kills in a season (308).
-Schermann ranks fourth in the conference, averaging 3.24 kills per set.
-Senior middle hitter Sofia Rajala (Deer River, Minn./Greenway HS) ranks second in the conference with a .320 hitting percentage.

Record: 11-17, 8-8 UMAC
-The Vikings made the UMAC Tournament in thrilling fashion, rallying to defeat rival Martin Luther in five sets last Wednesday to clinch the No. 5 seed.
-BLC played Macalester College in a non-conference match on Saturday and also won in five sets.
-The Vikings will be led by Megan Rutt, who ranks second in the conference averaging 4.13 kills per set.
-In conference play, Rutt led all players with 227 kills.
-Mackenna Hinz ranks third in the UMAC, averaging 4.40 digs per set.
 
Series Records: CSS leads 23-8 (Last Meeting: 3-1 CSS – 10/20/2018)
 
Series History: This will be the first postseason meeting between the two programs since 2008 … The Saints are 2-1 against Vikings in the UMAC Tournament … CSS swept BLC during the regular season and have won 20 straight overall in the series.
 
Looking Ahead: The winner of Monday's match moves on to the UMAC Tournament semifinals where they will face top-seeded University of Northwestern (Minn.) Wednesday night in St. Paul.
