Janelle Rouillard (Dayton, Minn./Rogers HS) scored a hat trick in the opening 25 minutes to lead the St. Scholastica woman's soccer team's blow out of North Central University (Minn.) 10-1 on Wednesday in Minneapolis.
How it Happened
The Saints attacked early and often against North Central (5-12, 2-9 UMAC) in their match on Wednesday. They were led by the attack of junior
Janelle Rouillard (Dayton, Minn./Rogers HS), as she completed a hat-trick before in the Rams could even get a shot off. She scored goals in the fifth, 21
st, and 25
th minutes of the match. Her second goal came off of a penalty kick.
The Saints added to their first half lead with a 32
nd minute goal from
Kaiya Quam (Oakdale, Minn./Mounds View HS). That goal was assisted on by
Lorena Lane (Superior, Wis./Superior HS). North Central was able to put one goal on the board before halftime on a Payton Swoboda goal. That was the first goal allowed by
Roni Rudolph (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS (Minnesota-Duluth)) in conference play.
St. Scholastica continued to be on the offensive to start the second half, with
Rachel Dixon (Superior, Wis./Superior HS) scoring two goals to extend the lead to five. Her 62
nd minute goal was assisted on by
Morgan Friday (Duluth, Minn./Shattuck St. Mary's HS). Friday added to the scoring parade with a goal of her own in the 67
th minute goal, assisted on by
Becca Rancour (Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson HS). Rancour also scored a goal in the 68
th minute to put CSS up by seven goals. Quam added a second goal on the day and
Emily Thoreson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) scored an 84
th minute goal to put the score to 10-1, as the match would end.
Goalkeeping
Rudolph earned the win for the Saints, saving one shot and allowing one goal. She was relieved by
Chiara DeLuca (Twig, Minn./Proctor HS) in the 72
nd minute. Ellie Tieszen allowed 10 goals while saving seven shots in the loss for North Central.
Top Performers
Rouillard led the Saints in scoring, earning a hat trick. Dixon added two goals and an assist in the match.
