Soccer Teams Travel to North Central Wednesday

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's and women's soccer teams head to Minneapolis Wednesday to face North Central University (Minn.).

What You Need to Know about the Saints:
-The Saints come into Wednesday's game in second place in the UMAC standings, two points ahead of University of Minnesota Morris.
-The Saints are coming off two big UMAC games beating Crown College and Northland College with a combined score of 9-1.
-One point against North Central would secure the second seed for the Saints in the UMAC playoffs and secure them at least one home playoff game in the Semifinals.
-This will be the first season since 2009 that the Saints will not be the first seed in the UMAC Tournament.
-Michael Petoletti (Duluth, Minn./Proctor HS (Lake Superior College)) recorded the win and shutout on Monday over Northland, his first shutout as a Saint, and is now 3-0 as a starter.
-Nolan Friday (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) scored two goals in the win over Northland, his first two as a Saint.
-Luke Buckton (Bath, England/Writhlington School) became the sixth player in program history to record at least 40 goals and 30 assists in a career with a goal in a 3-1 win over Crown.
-Darby Henderson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) as a goal and an assist in each of the last two games.
-Armin Bobaric (Andover, Minn./Andover HS) has scored a goal in each of the last two wins. CSS is 5-0 this season when Bobaric scores a goal.
 
What You Need to Know about North Central:
Record: 7-6-2, 3-5-2 UMAC
-North Central currently sits in seventh place in the UMAC standings, and still has an outside shot to sneak into the playoffs.
-They currently sit four points behind Crown with six potential points still available, Crown can get to 18 points in their final game and if they do it can eliminate North Central as they could tie Martin Luther at 17 but do not have the tie breaker.
-The Rams finish at home against St. Scholastica and on the road at Northwestern.
-Danny Williams leads the offense for the Rams, he leads them in both goals (7) and points (15).
-Williams leads the conference with 1.93 shots on goal per game.
-Gabe Hartwig has played all but 13 minutes in net for the Rams and own a .755 save percentage with a 1.73 GAA.
-Hartwig is tied for the conference lead with three shutouts.

What You Need to Know about the Saints:
-The Saints clinched the UMAC Tournament's No. 1 seed Monday with a 1-0 win over Northland College and can get sole positon of the UMAC regular season championship with a one more point in the final two games.
-The Saints narrowly escaped Northland to clinch on Monday, they broke the 1-0 tie with 10:08 left in the second half when Kaiya Quam (Oakdale, Minn./Mounds View HS) scored her fourth goal of the season.
-Quam has scored a goal in each of the last two games.
-The Saints got their sixth straight shutout and have shutout opponents in 11 of the last 12 games, they are 11-1 in those games.
-The Saints rank 21st in the country in shutout percentage at .688, their goals against average ranks 33rd at .547.
-Roni Rudolph's (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS (Minnesota-Duluth)) .901 save percentage ranks 17th in NCAA Division III.
-With one more shutout, Rudolph will set the program record for clean sheets in a season.
-Morgan Friday (Duluth, Minn./Shattuck St. Mary's HS) averages 7.44 shots per game, which ranks fourth in the country.

-North Central comes into Saturday's matchup with the Saints eliminated from UMAC postseason contention.
-The Rams are on schedule to finish eighth in the conference for the second straight season.
-The Rams finish the season at home against St. Scholastica then on the road at Northwestern.
-The Rams have the top scoring offense in the UMAC at 2.63 goals per game.
-The Rams Offense is led by Abby Schwinden who leads the conference in goals (15) and points (37), she also has added seven assists.
-Payton Swoboda also has put in work on the offensive side of the ball she has 12 goals, eight assists (leads the team) and 32 points. She ranks second in the conference in all three of those categories.

Series History: The Saints have won all 15 games against the Rams, have shut them out in 13 out of 15 meetings, and only have allowed two goals all time.
