DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – Kaiya Quam (Oakdale, Minn./Mounds View HS) scored in the 80th minute to give the St. Scholastica women's soccer team a 1-0 victory over Northland College Monday at Saints Field and, in doing so, clinched the No. 1 seed for the Saints in next week's Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Tournament and at least a share of the UMAC regular season title.

The Action
In the first half, St. Scholastica dominated, outshooting the LumberJills 14-2. Northland shot their only two shots this half. The first shot on goal for the Saints did not come until the seventh minute, when Rachel Dixon (Superior, Wis./Superior HS) registered shot on goal. The first half ended and the game remained scoreless.

CSS dominated again in shots on goal during the second half, but still were stifled to put the ball in the back of the net. Morgan Friday (Duluth, Minn./Shattuck St. Mary's HS) would hit the post in the 54th minute. Kayla Quam finally broke through in the 80th minute with the assist from Dixon to net the ball in the bottom right hand corner. Quam's 10th point of the year gave the Saints the advantage they needed to pull out the victory.

Notable Performances
Dixon, Becca Rancour (Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson HS), and Friday each recorded five shots. Janelle Rouillard (Dayton, Minn./Rogers HS) shot four times.

CSS goalkeeper Roni Rudolph (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS (Minnesota-Duluth)) faced no shots on goal to earn her sixth straight shutout and program record tying 12th of the season. Northland's Megan Jordan stopped 12 out of 13 shots on goal.
