DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) - The St. Scholastica women's soccer team edged out University of Wisconsin-River Falls 1-0 Wednesday afternoon at Saints Field during the annual battle for The Chalice.

The Action
CSS broke through early to score the lone goal. Becca Rancour (Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson HS) scored her sixth goal of the season by beating out a Falcon defender 10 minutes into the game. By the end of the first half, the Saints' lead of 1-0 still stood, with both teams recording five shots each. Moments after the Rancour goal, Janelle Rouillard (Dayton, Minn./Rogers HS) struck the crossbar with a shot. The Falcons (9-6-1) also had a great chance off a corner that was denied by Roni Rudolph (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS (Minnesota-Duluth)).

In the second half, UWRF outshot CSS 6-4, but struggled to get past St. Scholastica's defense. The second half was scoreless, and 1-0 was the final tally.

Rancour recorded five of CSS' nine shots. Rouillard shot twice.

Goalkeeping
River Falls' goalkeeper Amanda Ladue stopped one of two shots she faced. Roni Rudolph (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS (Minnesota-Duluth)) saved six of six shots on goal. With this shutout, she has now recorded 10 shutouts this season, two shy of tying a single-season program record.
