DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – Freshman Morgan Friday (Duluth, Minn./Shattuck St. Mary's HS) scored on a free kick in the 25th minute and it held up as the St. Scholastica women's soccer team recorded its first non-conference victory of the season topping Hamline University 1-0 Sunday at Saints Field.

How it Happened
The Saints were putting pressure on the Pipers early in the contest with snowflakes flying during the entire game. That pressure paid off as Hamline would be called for a foul 27 yards out. Friday, who scored three goals in Saturday's victory over the University of Minnesota Morris, took the free kick from the top of the box and struck a line drive over the wall and inside the left post to give the Saints the 1-0 lead 25 minutes into match.

The Pipers (4-10-1) would hit the crossbar 10 minutes into the second half and put pressure on CSS in the final 45 minutes, but the Saints held on for the 1-0 victory.

Goalkeeping
Roni Rudolph (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS (Minnesota-Duluth)) made six saves to earn her ninth shutout of the season and the 19th of her career. The program record for shutouts in a season is 12 and she moves into a tie for third in program history for career shutouts.

Up Next
The Saints (8-4-2) remain at home for game three of the five-game home stand when they battle the University of Wisconsin-River Falls for The Chalice Wednesday at Saints Field. Action begins at 3 p.m.
