Friday’s Hat-Trick Propels Women's Soccer to Homecoming Victory

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com)- Morgan Friday's (Duluth, Minn./Shattuck St. Mary's HS) hat-trick lifted the St. Scholastica women's soccer team to a 6-0 shutout of Minnesota-Morris as part of Homecoming Saturday at Saints Field.

How it Happened
The Saints attacked early and often against UM-Morris (5-7-0, 5-3-0 UMAC). The scoring was started by a 13th minute goal from Becca Rancour (Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson HS), her fifth of the season. Friday was aggressive to start the match, scoring the next two goals for CSS. Her 20th minute goal was her eighth of the season, and her goal in the 28th minute came off of a Lexie Dewall assist. The Saints outshot the Cougars 5-1 in the first half.
 
Friday picked back up in the second half, completing the hat-trick with a 64th minute goal. That goal was assisted on by Janelle Rouillard (Dayton, Minn./Rogers HS). The Saints took a 5-0 lead on a Rachel Dixon (Superior, Wis./Superior HS) goal that hit off of a defensemen in the 79th minute. St. Scholastica's final goal of the day came in the 85th minute from Lorena Lane (Superior, Wis./Superior HS). CSS had five shots on goal in the second half compared to Morris's two shots.
 
Goalkeeping
Roni Rudolph (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS (Minnesota-Duluth)) had three saves for the Saints to earn the win. Baily Tschida had four saves on the day for the Cougars, earning the loss.
