ST. PAUL, Minn. (csssaints.com) - In a rematch of a 2-2 tie at Mars Lakeview Arena in December, the St. Scholastica women's hockey team was bested on the road by Hamline University on Tuesday night, losing 9-3.

The Action
The Pipers (10-2-1) put a number on the board first, eight and a half minutes into the first period on a shot from Leah Schwartzman. A minute and a half later, Hamline scored again this time on a shot from Madison Kolbow. With four minutes left in the period, Bre Simon beat the Saints to put the Pipers up 3-0 to bring the teams to the first intermission.

Two more goals came from Hamline, one of them short-handed, before the Saints could get on the board with a goal from Emily Stegora (Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing HS (Minnesota State-Mankato)), assisted by Alexia Klaas (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS (Minnesota-Duluth)), with five minutes left in the second period. Just after that Amanda Broman (Mankato, Minn./Mankato East HS) was assisted by Taylor Thompson (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) to score the second Saints goal of the period and the game. This made the score 5-2 in favor of the Pipers to end the second.

The third period saw four unanswered goals from the Pipers to make the score 7-2, two of them coming from Simon to give her the hat trick. In the final three minutes of the game, Stegora, assisted by Klaas once again, as well as Kennedy Houge (Woodbury, Minn./Hill-Murray HS), got one more on the board to give the game its final score of 9-3.

Both Lexi Thomeczek (St. Louis, Mo./St. Joseph Academy (St. Louis AAA Blues)) and Lori Huseby (Babbitt, Minn./Northeast Range HS) had time in net in the contest. Thomeczek picked up the loss. McKenna Hulslander had 15 saves to earn the win for the Pipers.
