DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) -- The St. Scholastica women's basketball team held a 15-point lead with less than five minutes remaining in the third quarter, but the University of Minnesota Morris rallied and took its first lead of the second half in the final 30 seconds to win 69-67 on Saturday at the Reif Gymnasium.

Morris Wins it in the Final Seconds
The Saints entered the fourth quarter with an eight-point lead, but were outscored 19-9 in the final quarter by the Cougars. The score stood at 67-66 in favor of CSS until Morris made a layup with 28 seconds remaining to take the lead. After a CSS turnover, the Cougars went on to add a free throw to make it 69-67.

However, the Saints had a chance and would be fouled with a second remaining. Unfortunately, CSS missed the first attempt, which meant it had to miss the second attempt on-purpose and Morris gathered the rebound to make the final 69-67.

Saints Gain Early Lead
After falling behind in the first quarter, CSS out-scored the Cougars 15-2 between the final three minutes of the first half and the opening three minutes of the second half to open up a 12-point lead. The Saints led by as much as 15 before Morris got it down to eight at the end of the third quarter.
