FOND DU LAC, Wis. (csssaints.com) - The No. 15 St. Scholastica men's hockey team was defeated 6-2 by Marian University (Wis.) Saturday afternoon after the Sabres scored on three power plays. MU has won six of the last seven contests. CSS has not won at Marian since the Sabres became part of the conference.

First Period
Six minutes into the period Marian struck first to make it 1-0. Three minutes later, a penalty was called on CSS for tripping. The Sabres took full advantage, scoring 10 seconds into the power play to make the score 2-0.

St. Scholastica finally broke through Marian's defense when Nolan Ross (Fort Frances, Ontario/Fort Frances HS (Fort Frances-SIJHL)) scored off of a breakaway, cutting Marian's lead to 2-1. The Saints fought to tie up the game until Marian scored on a power play with four minutes left in the period. The Sabres led 3-1 going into the first intermission.

Second Period
Marian extended its lead five minutes into the period, scoring on a penalty shot to put the score at 4-1. The Saints were unable to score off of a power play that occurred halfway through the period, but were able to score with five minutes left in the period. Jordan Fralich (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Marshall School (Bismarck-NAHL)) assisted Sam Williams (Winnipeg, Manitoba/River East Collegiate (Melville-SJHL)) to bring the score to 4-2 going into the third period.

Third Period
The Saints were shut down in the third period. Even with two late power play opportunities, the team was unable to score.
Marian, on the other hand, was able to score twice and once off of a power play. These two goals brought the final score to 6-2 in favor of Marian.

Goaltending
St. Scholastica's Zane Steeves (Red Deer, Alberta/Athol Murray College of Notre Dame (100 Mile Wranglers-KIJHL)) played a little less than two period's time. Steeves stopped 12 out of 14 shots. Nick Trenciansky (Vancouver, British Columbia/Holy Cross Regional HS (Kindersley-SJHL)) stopped 12 shots before being replaced, picked up the loss.. For Marian, Hunter Vorva faced 21 shots and stopped 19.
