NEW ULM, Minn. (csssaints.com) - The St. Scholastica volleyball team went on the road on Saturday to take on Martin Luther College and came home with an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) win after a five set battle between the two squads.

The Action
Set one was a close one all the way through. Neither team ever had more than a three point lead. CSS fell behind 22-21 near the end of the set, but the Saints scored three in a row to make the score 24-21 in favor of CSS. The Knights followed up with three unanswered points of their own to get ahead 25-24. The Saints tied it up and moved back into the lead, then the Saints and Knights traded the next five points back and forth. CSS finally scored two and a row to earn the victory with a score of 30-28.

Sets two and three were both nail-biters. In the second set, the Saints fell behind 21-16, then went on a five point streak to tie the score at 21-21. Unfortunately for CSS, the Knights wouldn't back down and though the Saints put up a good fight, Martin Luther ended up with the 25-23 win. Set three was more favorable for the Saints, and though the Knights rallied to tie the score at 21-21, but CSS scored four unanswered point to finish up the game with a score of 25-22.

The Saints fell into a bit of a slump in set four and the Knights went on a six point run streak in the beginning of the game. St. Scholastica fell 25-19, and then came back strong in set five to earn the 15-10 win, giving them the match victory as well. This was only the second match of the season that went to five games for the Saints. CSS has won both of them.
