ST. JOSEPH, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica volleyball team was defeated by the College of Saint Benedict in three sets on Tuesday night in non-conference action.
The Action
The opening set saw the Blazers take an early 6-1 lead and would not trail the rest of the set, winning 25-18. The Saints had a better start to the second set with a 5-2 lead. CSS led for most of the set until St. Ben's went on a 6-0 run to take a 20-16 lead. The Blazers ultimately took the second by the same 25-18 score. The third set played out much like the first with Saint Benedict recording the first four points and not relinquishing the lead the rest of the way to win 25-12.
Notable Performances
Brooke Schermann (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Totino-Grace HS) had her third double-double of the season with 10 kills and 14 digs.
Emily Bounds (Hill City, Minn./Hill City HS) added seven kills.
Kelsi Rippberger (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) had 25 assists.

The Saints (5-12) return to the court tomorrow for their final Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) triangular of the season in Minneapolis. CSS will face the University of Minnesota Morris at 5 p.m. and then the host, North Central University (Minn.), at 7 p.m.
