PREVIEW: Volleyball Heads Across the Bridge Tuesday

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica volleyball team will have another Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) triangular on Tuesday, this time in Superior when the Saints face Bridge Rival University of Wisconsin-Superior and Northland College.

Last Action: The Saints opened conference play with a triangular at the Reif Gymnasium on Saturday, their first home matches of the season … CSS got off on the wrong foot with a four-set loss to Martin Luther College, but responded with a sweep of Crown College … Emily Bounds (Hill City, Minn./Hill City HS) had a career-high 12 kills against the Knights … Christaia Houser (Esko, Minn./Homeschool) had 10 blocks for the day … Espi Austvold (Spicer, Minn./New London-Spicer HS) went over 30 assists for the second time this season in the victory over Crown, while Madissen Burns (Watertown, Minn./Watertown-Mayer HS) matched a season-high with 10 kills … The Saints also had a season-high .288 hitting percentage against the Storm.
 
Conference Triangulars: New this year around the conference is scheduling conference triangulars … Teams are playing 16 league matches this season and to allow for scheduling flexibility schools will be playing four UMAC triangulars during the first month of the season.
 
Ball Handling: The Saints have 20 more ball handling errors than their opponents thus far this season (29-9) and 20 more receiving errors (74-54).
 
More Defense: Houser has the second-most blocks in the conference with 34, but the Saints have allowed the most kills per set (13.4) than any other team in the conference.
