DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team got a Lexie DeWall (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS (Morningside)) goal in the 83rd minute to force overtime and settled for a 2-2 draw against Alma College (Mich.) in Friday's season opener at Saints Field.

The Action
The Saints scored first in the opening seven minutes of the game. Kailee Katt (Esko, Minn./Esko HS (St. Catherine)) sent in a corner and after a short scramble in front Taylor Olson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) found the net to make it 1-0 six minutes and 39 seconds into the contest.

CSS remained in front until Alma equalized off its own corner in the 34th minute. The teams combined for only three shots in the first half as the score was deadlocked at the half.

In the second half, the Scots controlled much of the action and were rewarded in the 66th minute with an Amanda Mladenovski goal to make it 2-1.

CSS started to put on the offensive pressure in the final 15 minutes trying to tie the contest. Finally, in the 83rd minute after a mad scramble in front of the net, DeWall beat the 'keeper to tie the game at 2-2.

After a Roni Rudolph (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS (Minnesota-Duluth)) save with under five minute remaining, the Saints nearly won it in the final minute when Hannah Zeis (Ashland, Wis./Ashland HS) struck the crossbar. However, the contest went to overtime tied 2-2.

CSS nearly won the contest again in the second overtime when Rachel Dixon (Superior, Wis./Superior HS) re-directed a cross, but Alma goalkeeper Kelsey Postema deflected the ball off the crossbar. After 20 minutes and two overtimes, the game ended in a 2-2 draw.

Notable Performances
Rudolph made six saves for the Saints, while Postema made six saves for the Scots. Janelle Rouillard (Dayton, Minn./Rogers HS) had two shots on goal for CSS.
