St. Scholastica Saints
Stats
Record: 7-14, 5-8 UMAC
Upper Midwest Athletic Conference: Standings | Stats

Last Action: The Saints split last weekend defeating Bethany Lutheran College on Friday, but falling to Martin Luther College on Saturday … It was a key weekend for CSS as it faced the two teams directly ahead of them in the standings … The Saints needed to sweep the weekend to be in a good position for a postseason spot … The Saints have only swept a weekend once this season and that was in December when they defeated both Finlandia University (Mich.) and Northland College at home.

Walther's Career Night: Sophomore Michala Walther (Roseville, Minn./Concordia Academy) spearheaded the Saints to victory against Bethany Lutheran on Friday night … Walther scored a career-high 31 points, 20 of which coming in the second half, and also grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds for her first collegiate double-double … She became the first player to score at least 30 points in a game since CSS Hall of Famer Jackie Plesha scored a program record 37 points to defeat UW-Superior in overtime on January 20, 2004 … She is also the first CSS player to score at least 20 points in three straight games since Plesha accomplished it during the 2004-05 season … For her efforts, Walther was named the UMAC Player of the Week, becoming the fourth CSS player to earn that honor this season.

UMAC POW: The Saints have had four different players named UMAC Players of the Week this season, which is single-season program record … CSS has only had UMAC Player of the Week honors the previous four seasons … The program-high for overall nominations in a season is five set in 2003-04 and 2002-03.

Where They Stand: With three conference games remaining, the Saints are a game out of the fifth-and-final UMAC Tournament spot … However, since they lose the tiebreaker to fifth place Martin Luther, the Saints are theoretically two games out of a postseason spot … CSS also sits two game behind fourth place Bethany Lutheran … St. Scholastica will need to knock off either first place UWS this weekend or second place Minnesota Morris next weekend to put themselves in position for a postseason spot.

Upcoming Opponents
UW-Superior Yellowjackets
Record: 18-4, 13-0 UMAC

The Yellowjackets have not been challenged in conference play up to this point, winning by an average margin of 23.3 points per game … As a team, UWS leads the conference in 15 different categories, however, only Emily Carpenter leads the conference individually with a 2.1 assist-to-turnover ratio … Hailey Kontny leads the team in scoring averaging 14.2 points per game … Hannah Norlin averages 13.5 points and a team-best 6.6 rebounds per game … UWS enters Saturday's game on a nine-game win streak, a streak that was started with a victory over the Saints on January 7 … UWS has already clinched one of the top two seeds for the UMAC Tournament.

Series Record: UWS leads 26-24 (Last Meeting: 72-54 UWS – 1/7/2017)

Series History: The Yellowjackets have won eight straight in the series, all by double-figures … The last CSS victory in Superior was in December of 2009.

Looking Ahead: The Saints close out the regular season at the University of Minnesota Morris on Friday, February 17 and at Crown College on Saturday, February 18.
