HOUGHTON, Mich. (
csssaints.com) – After not racing on Saturday due to an illness,
Kelsey Dickinson (Winthrop, Wash./Liberty Bell HS) led the St. Scholastica women's ski team with a 10
th place finish on Sunday in the 15km freestyle at the Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) Distance Championships.
The Action
The Saints would finish third for the second straight day out of the six CCSA teams in attendance. However, they would tie with the University of Wisconsin- Green Bay today with 49 points. CSS finished third overall for the weekend with 97 points.
Dickinson led the Saints, finishing in 49:28 and 10
th overall. It was Dickinson's first career top 10 finish in a CCSA Championship distance race. Senior
Ellie Evans (New Hope, Minn./Robbinsdale Cooper HS) was 13
th for the Saints in a time of 51:29. Evans' finish was also a career-best at a CCSA Championship. Freshman
Nicole Gilman (Manitowish Waters, Wis./Lakeland Union HS) was the third CSS skier to score in 17
th, posting a time of 52:18.
Yesterday's leader,
Allison Ternes (Vadnais Heights, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) was 21
st and
Greta Jenkins (Palmer, Alaska/Colony HS) was behind her in 22
nd.
As was the case yesterday and most of the season, Northern Michigan University dominated with the top seven finishers. Kristen Bourne took first place overall for the second straight day. The Wildcats would take the team title.
