csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's track & field team captured three event titles on the first day of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Indoor Championships on Friday at the Burns Wellness Fieldhouse.
Event Champions
Casey Hovland (North Branch, Minn./North Branch HS) made her first appearance of the indoor season and dominated the 5000m run with a winning time of 18:24.08. She beat the rest of the field by one minute and 45 seconds.
Taylor Gibson (La Crescent, Minn./La Crescent HS) captured the 400m title, posting a season-best time of 1:00.51.
The 4x200m relay of
Anika Kling (Hudson, Wis./Hudson HS),
Sammi Argir (Chisholm, Minn./Hibbing HS),
Mady Urman (Alexandria, Minn./Jefferson HS) and
Breanna Shofner (International Falls, Minn./Falls HS) won with a time of 1:49.11.
Other Top Performances
Hannah Russert (Caledonia, Minn./Caledonia HS ) was runner-up in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 16'5.25" (5.01m). She was also fourth in the high jump, clearing 4'9" (1.45m).
Brittany Ludwig (Alexandria, Minn./Jefferson HS) placed third in the weight throw with a mark of 45'0.5" (13.73m). That mark was her second-best of her career,
Natalie St. Marie (St. Francis, Minn./St. Francis HS) was fourth in that event with a season-best toss of 44'7" (13.59m).
Argir was fifth in the 400m dash with a season-best time of 1:02.00.
