Dickinson's Eighth Paces Women's Skiers in Rhinelander

RHINELANDER, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's ski team took part in the 5km classic race of the Rhinelander Qualifier on Saturday at the COVAC Ski Trails.

The Action
This was the first time the Saints have competed on the ski trails in Rhinelander. Today's action was also originally scheduled to be a relay race as part of the Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) Championships, but since the January 29 race in Duluth did not count towards the NCAA qualifier, the schools decided to make today's event a classic distance race that did count in the CCSA standings.

Kelsey Dickinson (Winthrop, Wash./Liberty Bell HS) competed in only her second qualifying race of the season in the classic technique and finished eighth in a time of 16:37.

Allison Ternes (Vadnais Heights, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) was 14th finishing in 16:59, while Greta Jenkins (Palmer, Alaska/Colony HS) was the final CSS scorer in 15th with a time of 17:11. A second out of the scoring was Ellie Evans (New Hope, Minn./Robbinsdale Cooper HS) in 16th. Nicole Gilman (Manitowish Waters, Wis./Lakeland Union HS) placed 19th overall.

Northern Michigan swept the top five spots with Vivian Hett taking first place in a time of 15:36. The Wildcats placed first as a team with Michigan Tech coming in second and the Saints third.

Up Next
The Saints will have one final qualifying weekend when they compete at the NCAA Central Region Championships in Ishpeming, Michigan next weekend.
