The Action
The Saints struck first in the first period on a power play. Brandi Malwitz (Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln HS) put the puck past the goalie unassisted on the play, just under four minutes shy of the first intermission. The second and final goal of the game came from SNC's Lexi Pyykkonen who scored five minutes into the second period, unassisted, to tie up the game. In the third, each team got off six shots, followed by two shots from the Saints in overtime, but neither squad could add a tally to the board to take the win and the game ultimately ended in a 1-1 draw.
