ADRIAN, Mich. (csssaints.com)- The St. Scholastica women's hockey team lost to No. 4 Adrian College (Mich.) 11-0 Saturday afternoon in the second game of a two-game Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) series. The loss was the first of the season for the Saints.

The Action
The Saints did not get their first shot on goal until Amanda Broman (Mankato, Minn./Mankato East HS) shot seven minutes into the first period. Adrian scored two goals in the first period: one came at the eight minute mark and another 13 minutes in. The Bulldogs led 2-0 going into the second period.

In the second period, the Bulldogs were able to extend their lead by four more goals. Two of these goals came about three minutes into the period, and happened within thirty seconds of each other during a power-play following a major penalty called on the Saints. Adrian led 6-0 by the end of the second.

The Saints gave up five goals in the third period. These goals were all scored by the 12 minute mark, and two were scored 20 seconds apart. CSS fought to score, and had the most shots on goal this period, with six, but were unable to. Time would run out and the win would go to Adrian 11-0.

Abby Sawyer (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS) led the Saints with three shots on goal. Broman, Rachel Anderson (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS), Taylor Thompson (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) and Alexia Klaas (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS (Minnesota-Duluth)) each had two. CSS goaltender Lexi Thomeczek (St. Louis, Mo./St. Joseph Academy (St. Louis AAA Blues)) played for the first half of the game, saving 17 shots. Lori Huseby (Babbitt, Minn./Northeast Range HS) subbed in for the second part of the game, saving 19 shots
