DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) - The St. Scholastica women's soccer team shut out conference nemesis University of Wisconsin-Superior on Tuesday by a final score of 5-0 at Saints Field.
The Action
Three of the Saints' five goals came in the first half, the first one coming after just six minutes of play on a shot from Taylor Olson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS), assisted by Becca Rancour (Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson HS). Six minutes later, T. Olson struck again, her fourth goal of the season. She was assisted again on the goal by Rancour. In the last 10 minutes of the half, Emily Olson (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids HS) scored her first goal of the season on a pass across the front of the net from Kadie Mattson (North Branch, Minn./North Branch HS). This made the score 3-0 which would take the game into halftime.
After halftime, it took only 10 minutes for the Saints to get back in the groove. Janelle Rouillard (Dayton, Minn./Rogers HS), assisted by Hannah Zeis (Ashland, Wis./Ashland HS), made the score 4-0 with a shot to the bottom corner. E. Olson got her second goal of the season and second of the game, assisted this time by Lexie DeWall (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS (Morningside)), to give the game its final score of 5-0.
Notable Performances
Each of the Olsons had two goals each and Rouillard had one for herself. Rancour had three shots on goal and two assists. Olivia Schmitz (Caledonia, Minn./Caledonia HS) was in goal for CSS in her first start of the season to earn the win. Saving the one shot she faced and shutting out the Yellowjackets.
For Superior, Chloe Schmaltz had the sole shot on goal. Between the posts, Bailey Henderson got the start, saving six shots. Sky Brown got a turn in the net too, making one save.

The Saints (5-4-2, 4-1-1 UMAC) go out of conference to face Augsburg University at Saints Field on Thursday. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
