csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team blanked the Korean National Team 3-0 on Sunday in an exhibition game at Mars Lakeview Arena.
Saints Scoring
The Saints got a goal in each period of the contest.
Alexia Klaas (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS (Minnesota-Duluth)) scored with seven minutes remaining in the first period to make it 1-0.
Abby Sawyer (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS) and
Tessa Lowry (Calgary, Alberta/Edge School) had the assists.
With 11 minutes left in the second period
Emily Stegora (Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing HS (Minnesota State-Mankato)) scored off a rebound from a shot by Lowry to extend the CSS lead to 2-0.
The final goal of the game came in the final 10 seconds as Korea had the goaltender pulled and
Amanda Broman (Mankato, Minn./Mankato East HS) walked it in for the empty netter to make the final 3-0.
Goaltending
Lindsey Hartfiel (Big Lake, Minn./Buffalo HS) and
Lexi Thomeczek (St. Louis, Mo./St. Joseph Academy (St. Louis AAA Blues)) combined for the shutout for the Saints. Hartfiel stopped eight shots in 31 minutes of action. Thomeczek had 14 saves, including 13 in the third period. So Jung Shin recorded 27 saves for Team Korea
