LAKE FOREST, Ill. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team led No. 7 Lake Forest College (Ill.) 1-0 after one period, but the Foresters scored two goals in each of the next two periods to win 4-1 on Friday.
Saints Lead after One
CSS got on the board first midway into the first period when
Tessa Lowry (Calgary, Alberta/Edge School) recorded her first collegiate goal.
Mac Johnson (Monticello, Minn./Monticello HS (St. Cloud State)) was credited with the assist. The Saints maintained that 1-0 lead into the first intermission. St. Scholastica had been 3-0-0 when lead after one period this season.
Foresters Respond
After a Saints penalty, Lake Forest tied the contest at 1-1 with a power-play goal six minutes into the second period. Three minutes later, the Foresters took the lead on an Amy Budde goal to make it 2-1. St. Scholastica had a chance on the power-play in the final four minutes of the second period, but
Abby Sawyer (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS) hit the pipe as the Foresters held on to their 2-1 lead at the second intermission. Lake Forest is 12-0-0 this season when leading after two periods.
The Foresters added insurance as Isabel Regine scored six minutes into the third period to make it 3-1. Kate Fanning then sealed the game for Foresters with four minutes to go to make the final 4-1.
Goaltending
Lindsey Hartfiel (Big Lake, Minn./Buffalo HS) made 27 saves in the loss. She is now seven saves away from 2,000 in her career. Jacque Rogers had 16 saves for the Foresters.
