LAKE FOREST, Ill. (

Johnson Putting the Saints in Front Twice
Mac Johnson (Monticello, Minn./Monticello HS (St. Cloud State)) put the Saints on the board seven minutes into the game with an assist from
Emily Stegora (Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing HS (Minnesota State-Mankato)). The Foresters answered two minutes later on an Olivia Spellmire tally to make it 1-1.
It was Johnson again for the Saints with seven minutes left in the opening period with a power-play goal from the point to put St. Scholastica ahead 2-1 at the first intermission for the second straight day.
Kaleigh Hamann (St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS) and
Anja Kadijevic (Zagreb, Croatia/General HS (Lindenwood)) were credited with the assists.
Even Second Period
CSS extended its lead to 3-1 less than three minutes into the second period on a
Denisa Lalikova (Puchov, Slovakia/Proctor Academy, N.H.) power-play goal.
Sierra Hanowski (Warroad, Minn./Warroad HS) and
Abby Sawyer (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS) had the assists. Lake Forest cut the margin back to one on a Lexi Morgan goal at the 14-minute mark and that score held until the second intermission.
Busy Two-Minute Span in the Third
Lake Forest tied the contest at 3-3 with 12 minutes remaining in the third period on a Lexi Morgan power-play goal. The Foresters then took the lead 53 seconds later on an Allie Girard goal to make it 4-3. The Saints got a power-play opportunity shortly after and
Alexia Klaas (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS (Minnesota-Duluth)) tied the contest at 4-4 with 10 minutes left. Hanowski and
Greta Nundahl (New Brighton, Minn./Irondale HS) had the assists.
The Saints killed off a power-play late as the game went to overtime.
Overtime
St. Scholastica committed another penalty just 10 seconds into the five-minute overtime. The Foresters had a near game-winner on that power-play as Spellmire's shot rang off the pipe. Lake Forest out-shot the Saints 8-1 in overtime, but none crossed the goal line as the contest ended in a 4-4 tie.
