SUPERIOR, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica softball team scored nine runs on 13 hits in the game one victory, but could only muster six hits and a run in a loss in the nightcap against Bridge Rival University of Wisconsin-Superior on Friday

Game 1: CSS 9, UWS 3
The Saints plated five runs in the first two innings and then put up a four-spot in the fifth as it cruised to a 9-3 victory.

Hannah Borgeson (Woodville, Wis./Baldwin-Woodville HS), Kara Warren (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) and Nikki Logergren (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS (Northern Stars)) had three straight RBI singles in the top of the first to give the Saints an early 3-0 lead.

CSS added two more in the second inning on a Micah McGuinness RBI single and a Maggie Schley (Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS) sacrifice fly. The Yellowjackets got on the board in the bottom of the second with pair of runs to make it 5-2.

It remained 5-2 until the fifth inning when Rendi Johnson (Bonney Lake, Wash./Bonney Lake HS) hit a three-run home run as part of a four-run inning to extend the St. Scholastica lead to 9-2. UWS tacked on one more, but it wasn't enough as the Saints came up with the 9-3 victory.

Chrisi Mizera (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East HS) struck out seven and allowed five hits in the complete-game victory. She also had a RBI at the plate. Alexa Bremer (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake HS) and Warren were both 3-for-4 to lead the Saints offensively.

Game 2: UWS 4, CSS 1
The nightcap saw the Yellowjackets get four runs across in the bottom of the fourth and that was all that was needed as the Saints struggled offensively in a 4-1 defeat.

In that fourth inning, Superior got a pair of RBI singles and then had a two-out, two-run single to make it 4-0. St. Scholastica's lone run of the game came on a Schley RBI single in the top of the sixth.

Schley picked up the loss on the pitching rubber, striking out four in six innings. Logergren had two of the team's six hits in the loss.
