DULUTH, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica softball team put up 53 combined runs in a doubleheader sweep of North Central University on Tuesday at Kenwood Field.
Game 1: CSS 29, NCU 3 (F/5)
The Saints scored six runs in the second, nine runs in the third and 14 runs in the fourth as it scored the most runs in a game since recording 32 runs in a game during the 2011 season.
CSS had 25 hits in the victory, including eight doubles and three home runs.
Nikki Logergren (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS (Northern Stars)) hit two of the three home runs and had four RBIs in the contest.
Alexa Bremer (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake HS),
Micah McGuiness (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake HS) and
Becca Zwak (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) registered three RBIs. Bremer, Zwak and
Kara Warren (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) each had three hits with Warren crossing home plate four times.
Jena O'Byrne (Stewartville, Minn./Stewartville HS) struck out seven in four innings to earn the victory.
Game 2: CSS 24, NCU 0 (F/5)
Grace Macor (Carlton, Minn./Carlton HS) saw her first collegiate action in the pitching circle and proceeded to retire all 15 batters she faced to record the sixth perfect game in program history.
Macor struck out three and actually did walk a batter in the third inning. However, that batter was incorrectly inputted on the lineup card, resulting in that batter being called out.
Offensively, St. Scholastica had five doubles, two triples and four home runs in the victory. Warren was 3-for-4 with five RBIs and three runs scored. Warren hit two home runs.
Hannah Borgeson (Woodville, Wis./Baldwin-Woodville HS) was 3-for-3 with four RBIs. Bremer and
Maggie Schley (Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS) also drove in three runs. CSS scored 14 runs in the second inning.

The Saints (14-12, 6-0 UMAC) will hope to finally play bridge rival University of Wisconsin-Superior on Friday in Superior. First pitch of the UMAC doubleheader is scheduled for 3 p.m.
