csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica softball team defeated both St. Norbert College (Wis.) and Oberlin College (Ohio) by mercy rule on Tuesday to run its winning streak to four.
CSS 9, St. Norbert 0 (F/6)The Saints scored seven runs in the top of the sixth to put the Green Knights away and end the game early by the eight-run mercy rule 9-0 in six innings.
Maggie Schley (Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS) allowed only two hits and struck out two in six innings to earn the win. Schley also led the offense, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored.
Becca Zwak (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) had an inside-the-park 3-run home run as part of the seven-run sixth inning.
Chrisi Mizera (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East HS) had a pair of RBIs.
Micah McGuiness (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake HS) and
Alexa Bremer (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake HS) both went 2-for-3 at the plate with a total of three runs scored.
CSS 11, Oberlin 0 (F/5)The Saints put together another big inning to take care of Oberlin by the eight-run mercy run rule by recording eight runs in the fourth inning to win 11-0 in five innings.
Kara Warren (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) was 2-for-2 at the plate, including a home run with two RBIs and two runs scored. Zwak was also 2-for-2 at the dish with a pair of runs batted in.
Hannah Borgeson (Woodville, Wis./Baldwin-Woodville HS) drove in two runs in a pinch hitting role. Every St. Scholastica starter recorded at least one hit.
McGuiness earned the win, striking out three and allowing just two hits in three innings.
Jill Rosby (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center HS ) pitched two scoreless innings of relief, striking out two.
