ADRIAN, Mich. (csssaints.com) - The St. Scholastica women's hockey team held a two-goal lead with 13 minutes to go against No. 2 Adrian College (Mich.) on Saturday, before the Bulldogs rallied and eventually won with 30 seconds remaining in overtime 3-2.

Scoring Summary
Just like the Saints and Bulldogs' game on Friday night, only one goal was scored before the third period. Mac Johnson (Monticello, Minn./Monticello HS (St. Cloud State)) was assisted by Brenna Smith (Apple Valley, Minn./Apple Valley HS) and Katie Josephson (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS) to put CSS on the board during the middle of the first period. St. Scholastica's Sierra Hanowski (Warroad, Minn./Warroad HS), with assists from Taylor Guzzo (Silver Bay, Minn./William Kelley HS (UW-River Falls)) and Abby Sawyer (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS), then extended this lead to 2-0 with 13:41 remaining in regulation. However, just over a minute later, Adrian's Lexi Tzafaroglou responded, scoring on a powerplay for the Bulldogs, making the score 2-1. The Bulldogs' Olivia Ziemba then tied the game at 2-2 with less than 11 minutes left.

The Saints had to kill off another Adrian powerplay late as the game went to overtime tied 2-2.

CSS played even with the Bulldogs in overtime, but Adrian's Michelle Jones ended the game, scoring with 30 seconds left in overtime, to make the final score 3-2.

Penalties Disparity
The deciding factor for the win in this game might have been the difference in penalties. CSS had double the amount of penalties Adrian had, with eight penalties for the Saints and four penalties for the Bulldogs.

Goaltending
St. Scholastica goaltender Lindsey Hartfiel (Big Lake, Minn./Buffalo HS) made a total of 52 saves in the loss, while Brooke Gibson had 26 for Adrian.

Up Next
St. Scholastica (6-13-1, 5-8-1 NCHA) will be traveling to Concordia University (Wis.) for a two-game NCHA series next weekend.
