PREVIEW: Men’s Hockey Gears up for Final Road Trip

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The No. 13 St. Scholastica men's hockey team will play its final road games of the regular season this weekend when heads to Milwaukee to face Concordia University (Wis.) for a two-game Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) series.

Last Action: The Saints swept Aurora University (Ill.) at Mars Lakeview Arena last weekend to extend their unbeaten streak to five games … CSS defeated the Spartans on Friday night 5-1 and in doing so, senior goaltender Tyler Bruggeman (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato West HS (Austin-NAHL) ) set the program record for most wins in a career … The Saints then trailed 3-2 with 10 minutes to go on Saturday night, before scoring three goals in the final eight minutes to win 5-3 … Keegan Bruce (Bellingham, Wash./Bellingham HS (Weyburn-SJHL) ) assisted four of the five goals.
 
Nowakowski Rolling: Senior Dylan Nowakowski (Calgary, Alberta/Centennial HS (Brooks-AJHL) ) has recorded at least one point in six straight games … He recorded two goals and two assists in Saturday's victory over Aurora and has scored five goals in the last four games … He ranks second in the NCHA with 30 points, which matches his career-high of 30 points from last season … His 20 assists are tied for third in the league and are a career-high.
 
Millin in the Clutch: Junior Brandon Millin (Port Moody, British Columbia/Heritage Woods HS (Notre Dame Hounds-SJHL) ) leads all of NCAA Division III with five game-winning goals … Millin scored the game-winner in Saturday's victory.
 
Where They Stand: The Saints can clinch a NCHA postseason berth this weekend with just two points … The Saints remain two points behind North Division leader St. Norbert College and eight points ahead of third place Milwaukee School of Engineering with 12 points still up for grabs … In the South Division, Adrian College (Mich.) and Marian University (Wis.) have clinched postseason bids, while Concordia (Wis.) is in line for the third spot … Lake Forest College (Ill.) is only four points behind the Falcons.
 
D3Hockey.com Team of the Week: The Saints have had two players named to the D3hockey.com Team of the Week this season … Brandon Millin (Port Moody, British Columbia/Heritage Woods HS (Notre Dame Hounds-SJHL) ) earned First Team honors the week of November 16 and Tyler Bruggeman (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato West HS (Austin-NAHL) ) earned second team honors the week of November 23.
 
Special Team Success: The Saints have the best power-play unit in the conference and sixth nationally with a success rate if 27.4 percent … Combining the power-play and penalty-kill units, the Saints are plus-15, which is tied for the conference lead.

The Falcons were swept by St. Norbert College last weekend and are 1-5-1 in their last six games … Concordia holds a four-point lead over Lake Forest College (Ill.) for third place in the NCHA North Division, but have a much tougher remaining schedule than the Foresters … This weekend will be the final home games for the Falcons and Saturday will be Senior Day … Seven of the nine wins have come at home … Freshman forward Stefan Seel leads the team with 12 assists and 18 points … Sophomore forward Braden Crone has a team-high seven goals and has 10 assists … Freshmen goaltenders Jack Romanuik and Andy Munroe have split time in net … Romanuik has a slightly better goals-against-average (2.46) and save percentage (.913).
