DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The No. 14 St. Scholastica men's hockey team let a two-goal lead slip away as it lost game two of the weekend series with No. 3 Adrian College (Mich.) 4-2 to end the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) regular season.
First PeriodThe Saints scored two goals in the first period just 2:19 apart from one another.
The first goal came when
Rich Coyne (Cave Creek, Ariz./Pinnacle HS (Alaska-Fairbanks) ) would notch his first of the season 14:32 into the game with the assist going to
Sam Williams (Winnipeg, Manitoba/River East Collegiate (Melville-SJHL) )
Mark Whiteley (Surrey, British Columbia/Holy Cross HS (Marian University)) would follow up the Coyne goal with a power play goal of his won at the 16:51 mark of the first period to set the score at 2-0 in favor of the Saints.

Second PeriodThere was only one goal scored in the second period, and unfortunately for the Saints it was scored by the Bulldogs.
Just one minute into the second period Connor Armour would score a power play goal to cut the Saints lead in half at 2-1.
That score would hold through the next 19 minutes of play as defense was the story of the second period.
Third PeriodThe third period would start almost exactly the same way as the second. Adrian tallied a goal 1:10 into the period to tie the game up at 2-2.
The Bulldogs would follow their early goal with a second goal to take their first lead at 3-2 with over 15 minutes remaining when Cory Dunn beat Saints goalie
Tyler Bruggeman (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato West HS (Austin-NAHL) ).
The Saints would try and mount a comeback effort over the next 10 minutes, but an Adrian goal with 6:31 to go all but sealed the game as CSS fell in its regular season finale by a final score of 4-2.
Bruggeman ended the game stopping 29-of-33 shots in the losing effort.
