ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. (csssaints.com) -- The St. Scholastica men's basketball team worked together for a 74-59 win against North Central University Friday night, winning the first Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) game of the season.

The Action
In the first half, Connor Gray (Superior, Wis./Superior HS), assisted by Joe Stark (Hayward, Wis./Hayward HS), made a good layup to get the Saints on the board first 2-0. Brandon Newman (Barnum, Minn./Barnum HS) shot another layup a minute later to extend the lead 4-0. The Rams would catch up after a good 3-point shot seven minutes into the half for their only lead of the game, but Kory Deadrick (Esko, Minn./Esko HS) would quickly put CSS ahead by netting a three-point jump shot. St. Scholastica outscored North Central 26-8 over the next 10 minutes to take a 30-15 lead. The Saints ended the half up 34-19.

To start the second half, Tony Adamczak (Moose Lake, Minn./Moose Lake HS) would make a successful free throw to put the St. Scholastica up to 35-19. Both teams were evenly matched this half, with each scoring 40 points, and the Rams only got as close as 13 in the half as the Saints would go onto win 74-59. CSS shot 60 percent from the floor in the half.
