MENOMONIE, Wis. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica volleyball team was swept by the University of Wisconsin-Stout in its final non-conference match of the season on Tuesday night.
The Action
The Saints got off to a good start, taking a 4-1 lead in the opening set. Later in the set CSS had an 11-10 lead, but the Blue Devils scored eight of the next 10 points to take an 18-13 advantage. Stout went on to take the set 25-18.
It was all Stout the rest of the match as the Saints would not lead the rest of the way. The Blue Devils won the second set 25-19 and then cruised to a 25-13 victory in set three.
Top Performers
Amanda Belden (Esko, Minn./Esko HS) led the Saints with seven kills.
Brooke Schermann (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Totino-Grace HS) had five kills with
Noelle Elvehjem (Mora, Minn./Mora HS) and
Christaia Houser (Esko, Minn./Homeschool) each adding four kills.
Emily Kessler (Grand Rapids, Minn./Greenway HS (Itasca CC)) had 14 assists and
Alex Barsody (Onamia, Minn./Onamia HS) a team-high 19 digs.
