DULUTH, Minn. (
csssaints.com) -- The St. Scholastica volleyball team blanked Finlandia University (Mich.) 3-0 on Wednesday at the Reif Gym, continuing a sweep streak that has now lasted 12 matches against the Lions.
The Action
Out of the three sets played, CSS dominated the first set more than the other two.
Noelle Elvehjem (Mora, Minn./Mora HS) got the Saints started by getting the first kill of the game, putting the Saints on the board first. The Saints would go on to win the first set 25-7 with St. Scholastica. CSS had an extremely high hit percentage this set, with .500.
In the second set, the Saints received the first point off of a Finlandia attack error. The Saints were leading 15-6 when Finlandia got some momentum and scored five times off of three attacks and two service errors. This streak would make bring the score up to 15-11, but it was not enough for the Lions to come back for the win. St. Scholastica would continue to lead the rest of the set, with a final score of 25-15.
Finlandia finally caught some steam in the final set, lessening the final score gap to 25-19, with the Saints still winning. St. Scholastica had 12 kills compared to the Lions' eight. Â

St. Scholastica recorded 40 kills in the three sets, with Elvehjem leading the Saints with 10 kills, and
Amanda Belden (Esko, Minn./Esko HS) and
Nikki Kienzle (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) both had eight. CSS also had 28 digs this match;
Alex Barsody (Onamia, Minn./Onamia HS) had 12, MacKenzie Orr had five and Belden for four. For assists,
Emily Kessler (Grand Rapids, Minn./Greenway HS (Itasca CC)) led with 17,
