DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com)- The College of St. Scholastica women's soccer team took down the University of Wisconsin-Superior 3-1 in a non-conference match Tuesday afternoon at Saints Field, with the Yellowjackets breaking an eight game streak of not scoring a single goal against the Saints.

The Action
This is the second time this season that CSS faced Superior, and after winning the first game 1-0, the Saints were determined to win again. St. Scholastica's Hannah Zeis (Ashland, Wis./Ashland HS ) got the game and the momentum started by getting the first shot on goal.

Though some strong plays showed promise, CSS was unable to make anything of the five shots on goal. UW-Superior only had one, which was saved by freshman goalkeeper Roni Rudolph (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS (Minnesota-Duluth) ). The first half would end tied at 0-0.

Six minutes into the second half, Kirsten Olsen (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine HS ) scored the first goal of the game. By taking advantage of a free kick from the top of the box, she put the Saints on the board to bring the score 1-0. This was her first goal of the season and the fifth of her career.

With the assist from Janelle Rouillard (Dayton, Minn./Rogers HS), Peyton Basco was able to get one past the Yellowjackets goalie a few minutes after Olsen's goal to to give the Saints a 2-0. 10 minutes later, Rouillard assisted to Taylor Rozmark (Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS ), who got the ball in the goal off a corner to distance the lead at 3-0. This was her second goal of the season and also the second of her career.

The Saints were close to shutting out Superior for the ninth time in a row until with 45 seconds left in the game, a Yellowjackets player was able to get a shot off a player's foot. The game would then end with a final score of 3-1.

Olsen led the Saints in shots on goal with five. Rozmark and Zeis both had two shots on goal. Goalkeeper Rudolph saved five out of the six shots she faced.
