Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Buckton's Two Goals leads Men's Soccer Past UWS

Notables
-Make-up for PPD game on 9/21
-Each team had eight shots on goal
-CSS has won five straight against the Yellowjackets

SUPERIOR, Wis. (csssaints.com) – Luke Buckton (Bath, England/Writhlington School) scored a pair of goals and assisted another to give the St. Scholastica men's soccer team a 3-1 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Superior in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) showdown on Tuesday.

Makeup Game
This game was a makeup of a contest on September 21 that was postponed due to weather … 20 minutes were played before the game was called … In those 20 minutes, the Yellowjackets had a goal disallowed and a penalty shot that was stopped. Today's contest would restart from the beginning of game.

A Different Start this Time
Unlike September 21, the Saints came out and got on the board early when Kyle Farrar (London, England/Kelsey Park Sports College) finished a Buckton corner kick in the 11th minute to make it 1-0.

St. Scholastica extended its lead to 2-0 in the 26th minute when Buckton took the ball himself down the middle and buried it in the back right corner.

UWS Attempts Comeback
The Yellowjackets cut the Saints lead in half just one minute and 55 seconds into the second half on a Jon Bucklew tally.

However, the Saints answered five minutes later when Buckton finished a Jonny Harkin (Birmingham, England/St. Benedicts School) cross to extend the margin back to 3-1. That would be the final score as Corrado Rosato (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) made seven saves to earn the victory over the Saints.

Up Next
The Saints (7-5-0, 6-0-0 UMAC) are on the road on Saturday to take on Bethany Lutheran College in another UMAC tilt. Action is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
