Kelsey Dickinson (Winthrop, Wash./Liberty Bell HS) led the St. Scholastica women's ski team again
Sunday in the Telemark Chase 10km freestyle mass start, finishing 14
th in the Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) field, crossing the line in 29:58.5.
Andrea Lee broke through Northern Michigan's conference dominance for the first time this season, claiming the individual win for the Michigan Tech Huskies, in a time of 28:01.8. Anne Tine Markset of Alaska took the second spot in 28:06.9, while the Wildcats still hit the podium with Felicia Gesior taking third in 28:08.7. The Wildcats still packed the top 10 taking the next six spots, placing an impressive 3
rd through 9
th places, claiming the team title.
Chelsey Youngberg (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) finished 17
th in 30:33.1, while
Ellie Evans (New Hope, Minn./Robbinsdale Cooper HS) took 21
st in 31:22.8. The Saints finished fourth on the day behind NMU, Alaska, and Michigan Tech.
"We started the weekend very strong yesterday in classic, but we've prepared really well for classic with a camp focused on the technique, so while it was nice, it was predictable," said Saints head coach
Chad Salmela. "I think we were a little tired today from a great race yesterday, and I think we need to spend the week working on our skate legs a bit for next weekend."
The Saints continue NCAA qualifying next week with a 5km freestyle and 15km mass start classic hosted at Michigan Tech.
