Notables-First meeting between the two teams in Duluth-Whitewater ranked No. 20 in the preseason NSCAA Division III poll
DULUTH, Minn. (
csssaints.com) - The St. Scholastica women's soccer team was held to three shots as No. 20 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater scored a pair of first half goals to win 2-0 on Saturday at Saints Field.
The Warhawks (1-1-0) found the net for the first time in the 10
th minute when Brianna Reid dribbled past the goalkeeper and walked the ball into the net.
In the 27
th minute, Larissa Dooley hit a perfect strike deep from the left side of the penalty area and snuck ball just inside the far post to make it 2-0.
Despite Whitewater having an 11-3 advantage in shots, shots on goal were only 3-2 in favor of the Warhawks. Whitewater had a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Kelsey Reeves (Eagle River, Alaska/Eagle River HS ) made one save in the loss, while Erin Doody earned the shutout, making two saves for the Warhawks.
Whitewater will be in action again at Saints Field tomorrow at 2 p.m. when it faces Concordia College-Moorhead for the Advantage Emblem Cup Championship.
