MENOMONIE, Wis. (csssaints.com) -- University of Wisconsin-Stout's Sarah Todey's goal one minute and 23 seconds into the second overtime period handed the St. Scholastica women's soccer team another gut-wrenching defeat on Sunday by a score of 1-0.
The ActionFor those who enjoy the defensive side of the game, Sunday's match was the perfect fit of sunshine and soccer. The only goal scored took place in the 102nd minute when Sarah Todey connected on a 25-yard, arcing shot off a throw-in by Addy Maher.
The Saints could not get things going on the offensive side of the ball, managing only five shots, all of which were on goal. Only three out of UW-Stout's 11 shots were on goal, two of those were saved by
Kelsey Reeves (Eagle River, Alaska/Eagle River HS ).
Rachel Dixon (Superior, Wis./Superior HS ) recorded the most shots on goal for CSS with two, but the Saints were just never able to put enough stress on the defense of the Blue Devils (4-1-2).
Up NextOn Wednesday, the Saints (2-4-2) will travel to across the bridge to take on bitter rival, the University of Wisconsin-Superior in an important UMAC matchup.
