ST. PAUL, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team fell to 2-3-2 after a tough loss on Saturday at Reynolds Field against the University of Northwestern by a score of 1-0.

The Saints came into Saturday's contest against the Eagles with a 1-0 record in conference play, as they topped Northland earlier in the week. They tried to pick back up where they left off on Tuesday, but they couldn't find the back of the net once in the game against Northwestern.

The first half had some action, with shots being fired at both goalies, but no goal was scored and the first half ended at a stalemate of 0-0.

The game was scoreless all the way up until the final five minutes of the game, when Northwestern's Allie Franzen squeaked one by goalkeeper Kelsey Reeves (Eagle River, Alaska/Eagle River HS ) for what proved to be the game's first and only goal. Reeves ended the day with three saves.

CSS had plenty of opportunities, and even outshot their opponent by a total of 14-7. Becca Rancour (Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson HS ) led the Saints in shots on goal with three and even had two shots on goal in a span of seven seconds.

Eagles' goalkeeper Josie Monson played a stellar game, recording six saves and denying the Saints from several possible goals.

The loss puts the Saints at 2-3-2 (1-1 UMAC) on the year, while the Eagles improve to 4-2 (2-1 UMAC).
