csssaints.com) - The St. Scholastica women's soccer team used two first half goals to defeat Hamline University 2-1 on Tuesday at Paterson Field to open the 2015 season.

The Saints got the scoring started in the 32
nd minute when
Leah Hamm (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS), the team's leading returning scorer, buried a pass from
Peyton Bacso (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS (Minnesota-Duluth) ) to make it 1-0.

In the 41
st minute, freshman
Becca Rancour (Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson HS ) made it 2-0, beating the keeper on a breakaway. The Saints out-shot Hamline 7-3 in the first 45 minutes.

Alicia Williams cut the CSS margin to 2-1 six minutes into the second half. The Pipers kept the pressure on, striking the crossbar eight minutes later.

Hamline had a pair of corner kicks and a shot on goal in the final three minutes of the contest, but the Saints prevailed 2-1.

Kelsey Reeves (Eagle River, Alaska/Eagle River HS ) stopped four shots to earn the victory. St. Scholastica had a 10-9 shots advantage in the contest.
