Saints Take Down Storm 13-2

Notables:
-Steven Neutzling (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral ) finished the game 2-for-2 with 4 RBI's and a walk for CSS.
-Mickie Keuning (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS (Angelo State)) started for the Saints allowing two runs over 5.1 innings.
-St. Scholastica now holds a 7-1 record against UMAC opponents.

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica baseball team defeated Crown College 13-2 on Friday night at Wade Stadium in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) matchup.
 
CSS got an early lead thanks to a two-run single from Steven Neutzling (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral ) in the first inning. The Saints added two more runs in the second inning following a walk and a wild pitch to go up 4-0.
 
St. Scholastica scored nine total runs in the ninth inning. Trevor Bernsdorf (Meadowlands, Minn./Floodwood HS (Doane) ) hit an RBI double down the right field line and then Bernsdorf was brought home from a Tyler Duex (Bloomer, Wis./Chippewa Falls HS (UW-Superior) ) sacrifice fly. Padraic Getchell (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS (North Dakota) ) and Austin Colvard (Little Canada, Minn./Roseville HS) each walked home a run to make it 8-0 Saints. Then a wild pitch and Nueztling two-run double made it 13-0.
 
Crown answered back in the sixth inning with RBI singles from Travis Walker and Camden Weins to make the final score 13-2.
 
Mickie Keuning (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS (Angelo State)) delivered a solid start for St. Scholastica giving up six hits and two earned runs over 5.1 innings. Keuning also added four strikeouts. Kevin Kunik (Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS ) pitched the final 1.2 innings giving up two hits while not allowing a run.
 
Trent Krekelberg threw 4.1 innings for the Storm allowing six earned runs, walking five batters, and striking out four. Garret Lawson completed the game allowing four unearned runs over 1.2 innings.
 
St. Scholastica is now 15-7 overall and 7-1 in the UMAC.
 
The Saints host Crown again on Saturday at Wade Stadium with a 12 p.m. scheduled start time.
