FOND DU LAC, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team scored four of the final five goals to pull away from Marian University (Wis.) Saturday night 7-4 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) action.
 
Marian's Amanda Waigand opened the scoring just over five minutes into the game with an unassisted goal. Two minutes later, CSS' Sierra Hanowski (Warroad, Minn./Warroad HS) answered with a power-play tally and was assisted by Alex Blair (Drake, Saskatchewan/Lanigan Central HS) and Taylor Guzzo (Silver Bay, Minn./William Kelley HS (UW-River Falls)).

Amanda Broman (Mankato, Minn./Mankato East HS) netted an unassisted goal for the Saints about midway through the period to give them a 2-1 edge. Still in the first, Abby Sawyer (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS) was assisted by Nina Waidacher (Arosa, Switzerland/Wirtschaftschule KV Chur (ZSC Lions/Swiss U18 National)) and Hanowski with less than four minutes left in the period to make it 3-1.
 
The four-goal first period, was topped by the five-goal second period. The Sabres opened that period with two quick goals in the first seven minutes to tie the game up at 3-3. Waigand had the first one on a power-play and her teammate Nina Laurie scored a couple minutes after her.

St. Scholastica regained the lead one minute and 21 seconds later when Blair and Kaitlin Johnston (Lake Elmo, Minn./Stillwater HS) assisted Hanowski on her second power-play goal of the game. Less than three minutes after that, Sawyer scored her second goal of the night on another power-play and was assisted by teammate Nikki Logergren (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS (Northern Stars)). Waigand closed the period out with a hat trick goal to make it 5-4 Saints after two.
 
In the final period of play, Sawyer finished off her first collegiate hat trick goal for the Saints and was helped out by Brenna Smith (Apple Valley, Minn./Apple Valley HS). With under a minute to play, Nina Waidacher (Arosa, Switzerland/Wirtschaftschule KV Chur (ZSC Lions/Swiss U18 National)) scored St. Scholastica's final goal on an empty net to make the final 7-4.

Ali Glazer had 29 saves in the loss, while St. Scholastica's Lindsey Hartfiel (Big Lake, Minn./Buffalo HS) had 19 saves in the victory.
 
Marian University's record falls to 5-14-1 overall and 3-10-0 in conference play. The Saints improve their record to 9-10-3 overall and 7-6-3 in the NCHA.
 
CSS will play again on Saturday at Finlandia University (Mich.) at 7 p.m. (EST) in Hancock, Michigan.
