DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team defeated Crown College 69-30 behind stellar defense and superb shooting.

It was all CSS from the word go as they began the game on a 10-plus minute, 21-0 run where they made 10 baskets before Crown could score their first points.

Crown finally did score with 9:24 to go in the half to make the score 21-2 in favor of CSS.

CSS would let Crown score just four more points in the entire half as they themselves tallied 43 as the halftime buzzer sounded with CSS holding a 37 point lead at 43-6.

After a technical foul called on CSS, Crown was able to make two free throws before the second half even started making the score 43-8 at the start of the second half.

With those two free throws, Crown was able to score eight of the first 10 points in the second half, but the Saints lead was just too large for Crown to overcome as CSS coasted to a 69-30 victory.

The Saints never led by less than 35 points in the second half.

Jenna Langer (Long Prairie, Minn./Long Prairie-Grey Eagle HS) and Brittani Brennan (Ashland, Wis./Ashland HS) led CSS with 12 and 10 points respectively. The Saints scored 42 of their 69 points in the paint.

CSS (10-11, 7-3 UMAC) will next be in action next Friday when they travel to Minneapolis for a 5:30 showdown with North Central University.
