Notables-Saints Broke Three Program Records-CSS won five events at Yellowjacket Open
DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's track & field team sent some competitors to the South Dakota State Invitational that took place on Friday and Saturday, while the rest of the members competed at the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjacket Open on Saturday.
South Dakota State Invitational Brianna Buske (Bloomer, Wis./Bloomer HS) broke multiple program records in Brookings, South Dakota on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, Buske set the 600m mark with a third place finish in a time of 1:35.14. Moving on to Saturday, Buske set the 800m program record for the second straight week, winning with a time of 2:16.47.
Casey Hovland (North Branch, Minn./North Branch HS) placed 10
th in the 3,000m run on Friday, posting a time of 10:53.04.
Nicole Christianson (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids HS) was 11
th in the high jump and triple jump.
Yellowjacket Open Sammi Argir (Chisholm, Minn./Hibbing HS) won the 60m dash with a time of 8.24. Argir also won the 400m dash, finishing in 1:01.19.
Hannah Russert (Caledonia, Minn./Caledonia HS ) and
Hailey Fentem (International Falls, Minn./Falls HS) swept the top two spots in the 60m hurdles. Russert had a winning time of 9.59.
Amy Campbell (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS) won the 200m hurdles with a program-record time of 29.33.
Rachael Hoium (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) won the triple jump with a mark of 35'11.25" (10.95m).
Katharine Roetering (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS) was second in that event. Hoium was also runner-up in the long jump with a mark of 16'0.5" (4.89m).
Danielle Dickson (Roseville, Minn./Totino Grace HS/Roseville HS) was third in that event.
Michelle Dube (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe/Luveve High) was second in the 200m dash, posting a time of 27.74.
Taylor Gibson (La Crescent, Minn./La Crescent HS) was third in the 800m run with a time of 2:23.20.
The Saints will have some competitors at the Parent's Day Open, hosted by the University of Minnesota, next Saturday, while others will be at the College of Saint Benedict/Saint John's University Quad.
