DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) -- The St. Scholastica women's hockey team earned its second victory in as many days against St. Norbert College on Saturday, this time defeating the Green Knights by a score of 5-3 at Mars Lakeview Arena.

The Action
The Green Knights struck first when Reaghan Chadwick scored a power-play goal with 7:12 remaining in the first period.

The Saints did not take long to respond and eventually separate themselves from St. Norbert by scoring four unanswered goals. The first of which came from Sierra Hanowski (Warroad, Minn./Warroad HS), scoring just two minutes after Chadwick on an unassisted goal after she stole the puck in front of the opponents net and put it away.

That would do it for scoring in the first, thanks largely to St. Scholastica goaltender Lindsey Hartfiel (Big Lake, Minn./Buffalo HS) who recorded 14 saves in the first period alone.

The Saints went on to score three goals in the second period, two within the first five minutes. Katie Josephson (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS) scored her third goal of the season off an assist from Amanda Broman (Mankato, Minn./Mankato East HS) which was then followed by a Kennedy Houge (Woodbury, Minn./Hill-Murray HS) goal, her first collegiate tally, just over four minutes into the period.

Also scoring for CSS in the second was Abby Sawyer (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS), assisted by Josephson and Laurissa Kostiw (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Balmoral Hall). Sawyer is proving to be a real offensive threat this season with four goals in the first five games.

St. Norbert Answers
The final goal of the period was scored by St. Norbert's Emily Chandler, leaving the Saints with a two-goal lead heading into the final period.

The penalties continued in the third for both teams, one of which resulted in a CSS power play goal by Josephson, her second of the game and fourth of the season, assisted by Sawyer and Broman.

Solid Goaltending
Now with a three goal lead and 14 minutes left to play, St. Norbert began to pepper Hartfiel with 17 shots in the third period. Hartfiel stood strong and moved quickly between the pipes, only allowing the Green Knights to score one final time on a power play opportunity before the final buzzer sounded. Hartfiel ended the day with 37 saves.
