ASHLAND, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team shut down Northland College 5-0 on Tuesday afternoon to clinch a share of the UMAC regular season title.
The Saints scored early in the game with
Becca Rancour (Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson HS ) recording her first goal nearly four minutes into the game. She was unassisted in that goal. Scoring the second goal of the first half was
Leah Hamm (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS), who was also unassisted.
Rancour scored another goal in the second half, this time assisted by
Kaylee Benson (Nowthen, Minn./Anoka HS). Hamm took another turn scoring CSS' fourth goal with help from
Peyton Bacso (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS (Minnesota-Duluth) ). The Saints' fifth and final goal came from Rancour.
CSS out-shot the Lumberjills 24-4.
Kelsey Reeves (Eagle River, Alaska/Eagle River HS ) spent most the game in the net making all three saves for the Saints, while
Annie Michels (Plymouth, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret’s ) relieved her for the end of the game.
The Saints improve their record to 10-6-2, 9-1-0 UMAC while Northland falls to 9-6-2, 6-3-1 UMAC. The loss drops Northland to the No. 4 seed in next week's UMAC Tournament.
