DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team took care of business on Wednesday afternoon, defeating UMAC rival University of Wisconsin-Superior 4-0 at Saints Field to remain undefeated against the 'Jackets in program history.
First HalfThe Saints led the way in the first half with nine shots to the Yellowjacket's four, taking a 1-0 lead early as
Kirsten Olsen (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine HS ) buried a rebound to give CSS an early advantage in the 14
th minute. St. Scholastica would extend the lead to 2-0 as
Becca Rancour (Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson HS ) found the back of the net in the 27
th minute. The score would remain 2-0 until
Jill Rosby (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center HS ) buried the
Kate Burley (Nowthen, Minn./St. Francis HS ) assist just before halftime to give the Saints a commanding 3-0 lead heading into the locker room.
Second HalfIn the second half, CSS would add another late goal to bolster the lead as
Leah Hamm (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) beat the keeper one on one in the 77
th minute. Rancour was credited with the assist. That would prove to be the final scoring play of the afternoon, as the Saints walked away with a definitive 4-0 victory.
Kelsey Reeves (Eagle River, Alaska/Eagle River HS ) added to her program record for shut outs, making one save in the contest.
