DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team extended its winning streak to three games as the Saints defeated Bethany Lutheran College 2-1 on Saturday at Saints Field.
First HalfThe Saints led the way in the first half with 11 shots to four for the Vikings. However, Bethany Lutheran would strike first, as Lindsey Stewart put the Vikings on top 1-0 in the 30
th minute. St. Scholastica would respond less than 10 minutes later as
Alexi Bopray (River Falls, Wis./River Falls HS) found the back of the net courtesy of a
Kate Burley (Nowthen, Minn./St. Francis HS ) assist to tie the score at 1-1. The score would not remain tied for long, as
Becca Rancour (Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson HS ) gave the Saints a 2-1 lead in the 42
nd minute. The score would remain 2-1 and the Saints would take that lead into the locker room.
Second HalfIn the second half, CSS would outshoot the Vikings again, this time 11-6. Despite two consecutive shots off the post for the Saints in the 76
th minute, neither team was able to muster a goal, giving St. Scholastica the 2-1 victory.
Kelsey Reeves (Eagle River, Alaska/Eagle River HS ) made two saves to pick up the victory for the Saints.
